India's IIM Bangalore MBA Program Continues to Shine a Light on Software Product Management

Updated: Sep 2, 2019

It was a great pleasure to be invited this past week as a guest speaker with the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) on the topic of Best Practices in Software Pricing, Monetization, and Offer Design. As India's #1 business school and ranked in the global top 30, it became quickly apparent this MBA program leads the charge by integrating software education within their curriculum. And a great fit as well being located in Bangalore -- India’s tech hub equivalent to Silicon Valley.

IIMB's software product management program, a three (3) credit elective for MBA students, is led by Haragopal Mangipudi, former SVP of Infosys' Finacle software and board member of the ISPMA. This program brings in a successful combination of academia and industry expertise with a goal to build the next generation of software innovation leaders.

Traditionally, SPM skill sets were expected to be "learned on the job". But in an era of digital transformation, start-ups, and fast-paced innovation, MBA graduates can now build a solid background in this discipline and be better prepared for the modern software work environment. And with software product managers in short supply, this program can also serve as a recruiting ground for numerous software and consulting firms.

A great experience visiting the IIMB campus and a heartfelt thank you to the IIMB class of 2019!
